Fossil hunting during the summer vacation
Join our geologists on a fossil hunt during the summer and see if you can find a 55 million year old fossil! Fossil hunting in the molar is like a lottery where you can find many exciting finds. The fossil wealth of the pier offers everything from plants to fish, and the well-preserved fossils are an impressive 55 million years old. If you are extremely lucky, your finds may trigger a reward, but in most cases you are free to take your finds home as a souvenir – a special experience of having visited a distant past and seen life from that time among the impressive volcanic shaft layers. The fossil hunt concludes with a demonstration of volcanism that heralded what is now the Faroe Islands and Iceland. Read more here.
